Grover C. Stephens was a founding faculty member in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California Irvine. He was the first chair of the Department of Organismic Biology, later named the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology. He also served as Dean of Biological Sciences in the mid-1980s.
